I want to note one of the ongoing—and, often, unnoticed—tensions and irony's of Revelation. While there is, certainly, much wrath/violence/blood mentioned, there’s also a continual strain of hope. Notice who is said to come and worship the Lamb in verse 4. “All nations.” Verses 3-4 give the implication that everyone will end up worshipping God. We’ll get into this later, but there’s also some weirdness going on in the last few chapters, where it says that the kings of earth will be thrown into the lake of fire...and yet, the gates of Jerusalem are open to the kings of the earth.
