Weddings & Relationship Coaching

Weddings & Coaching

Congratulations on taking the step toward marriage. I would be honored to officiate your wedding and to walk with you through the work of preparing for it.

Over the past 15 years I've officiated dozens of weddings and provided premarital coaching for many more relationships. My approach is unhurried, grounded in good theology and good psychology, and aimed at helping you build a marriage, not just plan a wedding day.

Coaching: Pre-engagement, Premarital, or Marriage

I work with relationships at three stages:

  • Pre-engagement — for those discerning whether to get married
  • Premarital — for engaged folks preparing for the wedding
  • Marriage — for already-married folks wanting to grow together or work through specific dynamics

Before I officiate a wedding, I generally ask those in the relationship to complete 4–6 sessions of premarital (or pre-engagement) coaching with me. You're also welcome to do this work with another qualified pastor or marriage professional.

Credentials & Approach

  • Certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator for 15+ years, working with dozens of folks
  • Certified in Advanced Trauma-Competent Care through Trauma Free World
  • Trained in Bowen Family Systems Theory and Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • MDiv+ and ordained through The Table Church

I'm not a licensed therapist. This is pastoral marriage coaching, not clinical therapy. If anything surfaces in our work together that would benefit from a licensed clinician, I'll refer out.

Non-Discrimination

I am ordained through The Table Church. We are a Christ-centered, LGBTQ-affirming, inclusive, and antiracist church. Participants have no need to fear being discriminated against or rejected due to their sexuality, gender, race, or prior marriage history.

The Table Church will not ordain or credential anyone who intends to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, citizenship, national origin, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by law. The Table Church will take all accusations of discrimination seriously. Discrimination may be a basis for discipline or termination of ordination or credentialing. You can contact the elders of The Table Church to inform them of discrimination: elders@thetablechurch.org.

Pastoral Discretion

The decision to perform a marriage ceremony remains at my discretion. The decision to perform a marriage ceremony is one of wisdom and discernment, as well as practicality. I may decline to perform a marriage ceremony due to scheduling or travel conflicts. If, during pre-marital or pre-engagement coaching, it becomes clear to me that the marriage would be unwise or unsafe for the people in question (for reasons not related to discrimination as stated above), I retain the right to refrain from performing the wedding ceremony. I will provide the people in the relationship with explicit and written reasoning and evidence as to why I feel the marriage would be unwise or unsafe.
