Messiah/Christ
one appointed/anointed to carry out a certain task, usually the rescue of Israel. Jesus then is God's appointed agent of salvation for God's people.
Son of God

- The king was to reign in such a way as to enact God's own rule
Jesus is God's appointed king, representing God Himself.
"Son of" language also was a designation of a person possessing the very same character as the father.
Son of God - used by people in the spiritual realm who recognize who Jesus really is. A human doesn't get it until Mark 15:39 (the centurion)
Gospel — "a historical event which introduces a new situation for the world."
We know from the beginning of the story that Jesus is messiah. Peter won't announce it until 8:29; but the rest of the book will then explain what it is to be "messiah."
