Acts 18

18:1–23NRSVue ↗

Verse 6—Paul, a Jew, had gone from city to city, synagogue to synagogue, in order to convince his fellow Jews about Jesus the Messiah. However, in nearly every case, his arguments were met with violent abuse and opposition.

Paul’s response (to shake off his clothes and say, “From now on I will go to the Gentiles”) is one we all could learn from. We are under NO OBLIGATION to keep putting ourselves under abuse and opposition. You don’t have to convince someone who refuses to listen to you, believe you, or give you the benefit of the doubt. It’s okay to walk away and say, “I don't have to take this anymore.”

Verse 18—Note that most times, Acts says, “Priscilla and Aquila.” Who was listed first in the name of a couple implies who was leading or the one of the most prominence. Priscilla, a woman, was most likely the primary teacher/church planter in that wife-husband team.
