Revelation 8
As we begin to read of the trumpets, that’s a lot of reminders of the plagues of Egypt (water turned to blood, fiery hail, locusts, darkness). As in Exodus, the plagues were judgments against the gods of the Egyptians, showing Yahweh to be supreme over all.

It’s important to remember the genre we’re in: apocalyptic. This should be seriously, but not literally. We don’t have to think that mountains will literally be thrown into the sea and stars to fall from the sky to think that these warnings aren’t real.
