Acts 20:1-16
Just a couple notes on this passage. In verse 7 we get one of the many confirmations that the first generation of Christians (even Jewish Christians) shifted their day of gathering and communal worship from the sabbath (Saturday) to the first day of the week (Sunday). Early Christian thought saw Sunday as “Day Eight” of creation, Jesus’ resurrection being the in-breaking of the New Creation. Thus every Sunday becomes a “mini Easter,” celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and the beginning of all things being made new.
